The Marymount Primary Instrumental Music Program is supported by Marymount College, under the direction of Mr Paul Faughey (Head of Music Department). The program provides tuition in woodwind, brass, drum, guitar, voice and strings. The students learn in small groups or individually during the school day. Most lessons are scheduled on a rotating timetable for a thirty-minute period and take place in rooms at the College.
Each instrument group has its own ensemble in which students may participate. All primary students are expected to join the Marymount Primary Concert Band which rehearses for an hour each week.
If you would like your child to study an instrument in a quality learning environment and at reasonable prices, please contact Bernadette Christensen or Paul Faughey at Marymount College. Paul Faughey will direct your enquiry to the particular instrument teacher who will be happy to discuss charges, music, instruments and time schedules with you.
Instruments are to be hired privately and accounts are issued by the teacher each term. The Band performs at various local venues and at school assemblies during the year as our proficiency develops.
